MV administrators promoted

The Mount Vernon City School District strives to promote from within and reward the exceptional educators who work within the District. Newly promoted Director of Special Education Michelle McKitty-Bromley, Director of Special Education Compliance Dr. Kellie Ramsey and Creative Executive Director Angela Hall each have worked in the District in the past several years and have committed their careers to serving Mount Vernon children.

Administrators, trustees, staff and students assembled at the Mount Vernon Board of Education on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, for the announcement of three more Career and Technical Education (CTE) program approvals at Mount Vernon High School. The school will now offer students a total of seven CTE approved graduation pathways.   

Shine like a star

Mount Vernon High School will hold their Hidden Talent and Fashion show on Friday, January 12, 2023, at 6 p.m. Students at $5, adults are $10 and PTA members get a $1 discount. Contact your school's PTA to buy tickets.

DWSA Winter Carnival

Denzel Washington School of the Arts is holding their Winter Showcase on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. Music, dance, theater and visual arts students will showcase their talents during the performance in the Phylicia Rashad Auditorium. Tickets at $15 at the door.

Steps toward grad

Mount Vernon High School will be hosting Steps Towards Graduation on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Steps Towards Graduation is a community event geared towards parents and guardians of students with disabilities from all three high schools who will be transitioning to post-secondary education after they graduate. The presentation will help parents and guardians understand the transition process.
