The Buddy White Project holds back to school giveaway at The Doles Center

Community members and their children gathered at The Doles Center on Saturday, August 10, 2024, to receive backpacks and school supplies during the Buddy White Project’s giveaway. Approximately 1,300 book bags were given away.

“We at the Buddy White Project would like to thank the great City of Mount Vernon, New York, the Mount Vernon City School District, the Recreation Department and the wonderful staff at The Doles Center for all of the hard work that made it possible for young students to go back to school feeling great,” said Henry “Buddy White” Allen, CEO of The Buddy White Project. “We all know how important it is to have the right tools to be successful. “

While receiving their school supplies, students also had an opportunity to participate in a basketball skills drill with the Buddy White Project’s mascot Kletis 2 Kool. There was also a bouncy house and face painting stations at the giveaway. The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, the Mount Vernon Community Health Center and Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures were among the organizations providing resources and information to the community throughout the day.
