Sixth Grade Science
WELCOME TO 6TH GRADE SCIENCE CLASS!
Dear Parents/Guardians:
It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to sixth grade science at Traphagen Elementary School. To ensure a productive year, please be aware of the following:
Attendance – Attendance is taken daily. If it is necessary for your child to be absent, please provide a note (or email) indicating the reason for the absence. If your child must leave early, a written note (or email) is required.
Homework – The purpose of homework is to review the work done in class. It will ALWAYS connect to the lesson from the day it is assigned. Science homework will be given 1 – 3 times a week. Please ensure that all homework is completed, neat, and done to the best of your child’s ability.
Supplies – Students must have the required supplies for class each day. Those supplies include:
· 1/2" binder
· 2-pocket folder
· 2 pencils or pens (blue or black)
· Discovery Education Science Techbook
District Grading Policy - This course of study includes different components, each of which are assigned the following percentages to comprise a final grade.
Report grades are based on a scale of 1 – 4. The percentage equivalents are listed below.
LEVEL 1 (0-64%), LEVEL 2 (65-74%), LEVEL 3 (75-84%) AND LEVEL 4 (85-100%)

Six Grade ELA and Social Studies
Dear Parents/Guardians:
It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to the sixth grade at Traphagen Elementary School. To ensure a productive year, please be aware of the following:
Attendance- Attendance is take daily. If it is necessary for your child to be absent, please write a note indicating the reason for the absence and send it with your child the day he/she returns. If your child has to leave early, a written notes is required. All missed work must be made up.
Arrival- Students are expected to arrive at school by 8:25 AM. After 8:40 AM they will be marked late.
Dismissal- Students are dismissed at 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Homework- Homework will be assigned every night and should take a minimum of 30 minutes to complete. Please ensure that all homework is completed, neat, and done to the best of your child’s ability. It will be beneficial to discuss the importance of homework with your child as it will revisit all concepts taught in class.
Students will be required to read 20 minutes every night. Please monitor your child’s reading.

Homework – The purpose of homework is to review the work done in class. Math homework will be given every night, including holidays and weekends. Homework should take a minimum of 20 minutes. Please ensure that all homework is completed, neat, and done to the best of your child’s ability

Quizzes and Unit Assessments – Students will take a quiz after each lesson (every 2 – 3 days). The unit assessments will be given after each unit is completed (every 5 – 7 lessons).
Online Resources - Students have access to online resources via the district website (www.mtvernoncsd.org). Students have access to the iReady app, which provides differentiated instruction and assistance. iReady is individualized for each student and automatically modifies instruction and lessons as needed. Students are required to complete two lessons each week.
